Electric and hybrid driving at Severs Breeman

Electric BMWs and MINIs are cars that, unlike petrol, diesel or gas cars, move around using electricity. A fully electric vehicle therefore produces no CO2 while driving. BMW and MINI have been developing and manufacturing electric cars for more than four decades. With the focus on sustainability and the environment, BMW and MINI developed a production chain that has made them the leading suppliers of electric vehicles in Europe.

There is also an extensive range of hybrid models. The plug-in hybrid models are characterised by an efficient combustion engine and a powerful electric motor. With hybrid models, you experience both driving pleasure and high efficiency. The energy management of the hybrid models is a combination of an internal combustion engine and an electric engine, with the help of batteries. All this is coordinated through hybrid management. A unique experience you won't want to miss.

Charging at home

You can charge your car at home or on the road and there are various possibilities for doing so. At home, you can simply plug your electric car into a household 230V socket. Within a 10-hour night, the battery will be fully charged again.

Would you like to charge your car faster? Then you can have a BMW Wallbox (also possible with green or self-generated electricity) installed. This will charge your car in just 4 hours. On the road, you can charge your car at public charging stations, which can often be found at a gas station. In addition to the standard charging station, there are fast charging stations where you can charge 80% of your battery within 34 minutes.

Charging on the go

Whether you have the ability to charge at home or not, a charging card on your keychain provides a sense of security. With access to more than 107,000 public charging stations and 34,000 public fast chargers in the Netherlands, BMW Charging is a secure choice. Use your included public charging cable to connect your car to the charging station. Then hold your pass in front of the scanner and the charging process begins.

Leasing an electric or hybrid BMW or MINI

Leasing is an agreement between you and us that allows you to 'borrow' or 'rent' a new BMW or MINI for a specific period of time at a specific price. Each month you have the same, fixed costs and you know exactly where you stand. Uncertainties such as residual value or maintenance can be eliminated, because this is included in the lease. So there are no surprises or unexpected costs.

Private Lease offers you a carefree ride in a brand new BMW or MINI at a fixed monthly rate. You can compile your BMW or MINI entirely according to your own wishes and determine the term of your contract and the number of kilometres driven per year yourself. You pay for the fuel, but the rest of the car expenses, such as maintenance, repairs, insurance, roadside assistance and road tax are included. Please note: the car does not become your property, but remains the property of the leasing company.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is electric driving cheaper?

Yes, because the price of electricity per kilometer is currently lower than the price of gasoline or diesel per kilometer.
  • How much does it cost to fully charge an electric car?

Fully charging an electric car costs about €23.68. *For this calculation example, we assumed a new BMW iX3 and an AC charging station with an energy price of €0.32 per kWh. Prices may vary depending on provider, charging station and battery size.
  • How often does an electric car need maintenance?

Cars with internal combustion engines and electric cars need regular maintenance. However, the operations required in maintaining electric cars are often simpler. In general, an electric car requires less maintenance than a car with a gasoline engine.
  • How does electric driving work?

Refueling an electric car works a little differently than with an internal combustion engine car. To charge an electric car, you need: a charging station (or socket), a charging cable and a charging card. To charge the car, you drive to a (public) charging station and take the charging cable from the car. This plugs into the car and the charging station (or outlet). Depending on where you charge the car, it takes shorter or longer to fully charge the car. Charging from a wall outlet takes the longest. In a hurry? Then use one of the many fast charging stations. With these poles, your car will be 80% charged within 35 minutes.
  • What electric BMWs are out there?

Currently, there are 5 all-electric BMW models available, namely: the BMW iX, BMW iX3, BMW iX1, BMW i4 and BMW i7. In addition to these all-electric BMW models, there are 9 BMW models with a Plug-In Hybrid variant, namely: the BMW X2, BMW X3, BMW X5, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.
  • Are there additional risks in collisions with electric cars

Collisions involving electric cars are at least as safe as collisions involving fuel cars. This is according to the report by research firm CE Delft.
  • Is an electric car really greener?

Yes. Producing the battery creates additional emissions, but this is offset by zero-emission driving. A new electric car produces 60% less CO2 emissions than a gasoline car of the same size. This looked at producing, driving and maintaining a car that has driven 220,000 kilometers.

According to the 2020 Tax Plan, the motor vehicle tax rebate for electric cars and plug-in hybrids will be phased out starting January 1, 2025; as a result, the installment amount may increase over the term of your lease.
