The BMW Motorsport logo was first used in 1973 for the racing car of BMW Motorsport GmbH, which had been founded a year earlier. In 1978, with the debut of the BMW M1, the logo with the three coloured stripes leaning against the M followed. The legendary BMW M1 was the only BMW M High-Performance production model to wear the historic motorsport emblem along with the three stripes. Since 1993, BMW Motorsport GmbH has continued as BMW M GmbH. Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of the Board of Managament of BMW M GmbH, says it will be a great year: "We will celebrate with unique products and great performances. The M has long been regarded as the most powerful letter in the world. In our anniversary year, the letter is more powerful than ever before."
BMW M GmbH is facing a promising year. In the course of 2022, the brand will introduce a BMW M3 Touring for the first time. There will also be a special version of the BMW M4 Coupé. The first electrified high-performance model in history will also appear in the anniversary year of BMW M GmbH: the BMW M. The button below will keep you informed of these new models.
