THE NEW BMW X7

The BMW X7 has quickly developed into the most successful luxury top model from BMW. With its unique combination of exclusivity, dynamism, luxurious spaciousness and versatility, the BMW X7 lives up to its nickname 'The President'. Various refinements to the updated design - particularly the salient front end - enhance the unique character of the brand's largest Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). Also renewed is the M Sport package. The cockpit is equipped with the latest generation of the iDrive operating system including the BMW Curved Display and BMW Operating System 8. In addition, the new BMW X7 has even more standard equipment, additional driver assistance systems and the latest 48V mild hybrid technology for all three engine variants. The new BMW X7 will be produced at the BMW Group's plant in Spartanburg, the centre for BMW X models in South Carolina, USA. The global market launch of the BMW X7 will take place in August 2022.

Exterior

With its versatility, the largest BMW X model convinces both on the road and off-road. The new front end features distinctive BMW design elements, such as the twin headlights and the BMW kidney grille. In their new form, they emphasise the car's confident height and visual impact. Split headlight units make their debut on the new BMW X7. The horizontal LED light elements are positioned higher in the front and accommodate the daytime running lights and indicators. The LED light units below are the low and high beam. With their dark housing, they appear to lie deep in the front. The new adaptive Matrix LED headlights with anti-glare high beam and automatic adaptive beam also serve as fog lights. At the rear, the progressive style is accentuated by very slim light units, now with a three-dimensional design. The elegant chrome trim between the light units is delicately surrounded by glass.

New motor with 48V mild hybrid technology

The latest generation inline six-cylinder makes its debut in the BMW X7 xDrive40i. There are numerous innovations for the combustion process, the exchange of combustion gases and intake air, valve control, injection and ignition. The result: better performance and more efficiency at the same time. The engine output is 47 hp (35 kW) higher than before, with a total of 380 hp (280 kW). Torque has increased by 70 Nm to 520 Nm. The engine of the new BMW X7 features the new generation of 48V mild hybrid technology. In this new version, a starter/generator integrated into the powertrain provides an additional 12 hp (9 kW) and 20 Nm of torque. The engine is combined with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission with steering wheel-mounted shift paddles and a Sprint function. The intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system ensures that power is transferred optimally to the road, even on unpaved or uneven surfaces.

Interior

The luxurious sense of space of the new BMW X7 can be experienced in all three rows of seats. The second row of seats accommodates three passengers as standard, with two very comfortable individual seats available as an option. Heated comfort seats are standard for driver and front passengers. BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery with extended size is also standard. The new dashboard - with compact air outlets and an Ambiance light strip in the lower section as standard - and the BMW Curved Display bring a modern style to the interior. The interior LED-lit strip with 'X7' lettering (or the M logo on the BMW X7 M60i xDrive) is part of the light effects that adapt to the conditions. The transmission lever also features a new, sophisticated design. The richer standard equipment for the new BMW X7 offers even more comfort and well-being than its predecessor. In addition to 4-zone automatic climate control, a glass panoramic roof and a hi-fi system, comfort seats for driver and front passenger, a leather-clad sports steering wheel with shift paddles and a new stowage compartment with wireless charging capability for mobile devices are among the standard features.

THE BMW X7 M60i

The top model is the BMW X7 M60i. M-specific design elements for the exterior and interior emphasise the performance of the BMW X7 M60i xDrive. The optional, updated M Sport package brings the dynamic driving characteristics of the new BMW X7 to the fore. The body colour Marina Bay Blue metallic is exclusive to this BMW M model. Another new body colour is Sparking Copper Grey metallic. The top-of-the-range model and versions with the M Sport package are fitted with 21-inch M light-alloy wheels. For the first time, a BMW model is optionally available with 23-inch alloy BMW wheels. Furthermore, the BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille, which provides a rich, extravagant appearance, is standard for this top model and optional for the other model variants. At the top of the engine range is the new 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine for the BMW X7 M60i xDrive. This engine is derived from those used in BMW M GmbH models. M TwinPower Turbo technology and a cross-bank exhaust manifold provide an output of 530 hp (390 kW) and 750 Nm of torque.

Additional driver assistance systems

Comfort and safety in the new BMW X7 are further enhanced by a significantly expanded range of automated driving and parking systems. New features include the additional functions of Front Collision Warning, which now also prevents collisions with cyclists, pedestrians and oncoming traffic when turning. The optional Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function also includes automatic Speed Limit Assist, which uses route guidance and traffic sign recognition. There is also a new function that warns of an imminent collision when opening a door.

The standard Parking Assistant includes the Reversing Assistant Camera and Reversing Assistant. In combination with the optional Parking Assistant Professional, the Reversing Assistant can take over reversing from the driver for up to 200 metres. The new Manoeuvre Assistant can store manoeuvres up to 200 metres away. The next time the BMW arrives at a saved starting point, the Manoeuvre Assistant can perform all these tasks automatically. The assistant operates the accelerator, the brakes, the steering and even changes between forward and reverse gear.

Latest generation BMW iDrive

The standard BMW Live Cockpit Plus in the new BMW X7 includes the latest version of the BMW iDrive control system. It is based on the BMW Operating System 8 and uses the BMW Curved Display, which is formed by a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch Control Display. Together with the ever-expanding capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the new BMW iDrive is strongly focused on touch, gesture and voice control operation.

The cloud-data-enabled BMW Maps navigation system can be optionally upgraded with Augmented View on the Control Display. The optional BMW Digital Key Plus enables the new BMW X7 to be remotely unlocked and locked via smartphone, using extra secure ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. The new BMW X7 also offers the benefits of optimised smartphone integration and a personalised BMW ID.
