Rotterdam businesses unite in Climate Alliance Sustainable Mobility

We are proud to announce that Severs Breeman, together with 20 other Rotterdam employers, has united in the Climate Alliance Sustainable Mobility. We have signed a declaration of intent in which we have stated that we want to reduce the CO₂ emissions of our commuter and business traffic by at least half by 2030.

About half of all passenger traffic consists of commuting and business traffic. In order to achieve a 50% reduction, we will focus in the coming years on taking increasingly sustainable and environmentally-conscious steps. Examples of this are working from home, getting employees to make more use of alternative means of transport and encouraging them to drive electric. We hope that more and more businesses in Rotterdam will join the Climate Alliance and thus make an important contribution to the climate goals.

What does Severs Breeman do in the field of sustainable business?
✔ Separation of waste is an important aspect within our branches. The storage and disposal of oil to batteries is also separated and disposed of sustainably. In addition, our branches are equipped with separate environmental areas for storing liquids and paint.
Upon delivery of a new, electric BMW or MINI, we ensure that it is charged with 100% green electricity. We also use green power in our buildings.
Heat loss is limited by good insulation, draught-proofing and smart window blinds.
Our energy consumption is low, partly because we have energy-efficient LED lighting and the showroom lighting is largely switched off at night and at weekends.
We proactively inform customers about the sustainable achievements of BMW Netherlands and our own company.
✔ We offer electric replacement vehicles to customers.
We signed the Sustainability Covenant on 7 October 2021. This commits us to six sustainability targets of BMW Group Netherlands.
The location in Alphen aan den Rijn is completely gasless, equipped with the latest heat pump technologies and the building has solar panels. In Woerden we have new fast-charging stations, which are also available to the entire region.
✔ Our fleet is becoming more sustainable every year with the addition of electric models.

Rotterdam Climate Accord
The plans form part of the Rotterdam Climate Accord, which aims to work with the city to tackle Rotterdam's climate challenge and reduce CO₂ emissions from traffic. The municipality is also contributing to the realisation of the plans and De Verkeersonderneming is helping companies to come up with smart plans. Besides Severs Breeman, large companies are taking part, namely: Arcadis, Berkman, Blue Amigo, Deloitte, Eneco, Erasmus MC, Municipality of Rotterdam, Rotterdam University, Port of Rotterdam, ING, Youth Protection, Kramer Group, PWC, Quion, RMC, Shell, Tos Waalhaven, Uniper, Van Dorp, Van Oord, Viro Clinics and Woonbron. We are proud to be among these fine companies and to take on this challenge together.

Together towards a sustainable future
As the largest employer in Rotterdam, Erasmus MC is one of the frontrunners. They are already actively working on sustainable mobility. We call on fellow companies to join this alliance as well. Joining is not only important for the climate, but also for your own company. The market is increasingly demanding sustainable business practices. Moreover, a sustainable working environment contributes to healthy employees and controlled mobility costs. Will you join our ambition?
