BMW is one of the pioneers in the use of the smartphone as a digital car key. Since 2018, an iPhone can be used as a BMW Digital Key and in the meantime this technology is being further developed.

The next step in the development of this technology is the BMW Digital Key Plus!
This latest version is based on Ultra-Wideband technology, which allows the car to be unlocked and started safely and easily while the iPhone is still in the bag or pocket.

The Ultra Wideband technology has the highest possible security due to its small range and high bandwidth, which makes accurate localisation possible and this radio signal cannot be intercepted by, for example, Relay-Attacks.

The BMW Digital Key Plus will be available for the first time with the new all-electric BMW iX and will be available for iPhones only for the time being.
