Unique, innovative and comfortable
The front of the new BMW i7 is dominated by design elements that are typical of the brand. Yet the luxury top model clearly stands out from its brand peers. With unique features such as the BMW Theatre Screen, the intuitive BMW iDrive control concept with BMW Curved Display and the Manoeuvre Assistant for automatic parking and manoeuvring, the new BMW 7 Series embodies the innovative strength of BMW Group. The attractive combination of a new in-car entertainment system, the even more refined Executive Lounge equipment (both optional) and new materials of a particularly high quality results in extraordinary travel comfort.

Exterior
The powerful and exclusive look of the new BMW i7 refers to the unique driving experience and progressive luxury, combined with a spacious interior and an innovative digital experience world for the rear passengers. The redesigned front end with the newly interpreted double circular headlights and BMW kidney grille gives the 7 Series a powerful and distinctive appearance.

The new BMW 7 Series has adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beam and the anti-glare BMW Selective Beam assistant as standard. The lighting functions are distributed over two headlamp units on each side. The extremely narrow light units at the top of the front combine daytime running lights, indicators and position lights. The optional BMW Iconic Glow crystal headlights create a unique lighting effect: position light and daytime running lights are created by sparkling Swarovski crystals arranged in an L-shape and backlit by LEDs. Low beam and high beam are located in the lower dark units which are recessed in the front bumper.

The impressive design of the front end is given additional prominence by the standard BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille. The illuminated contours of this, together with the BMW Iconic Glow crystal headlights, create an expressive lighting effect when the vehicle is unlocked and locked. The long doors ensure comfortable entry and exit for rear passengers. The rear of the new BMW 7 Series also catches the eye with its structured, generous surfaces. The slender LED tail lights create an image of minimalist elegance and are continued far into the flanks.

In the BMW i7, BMW i blue design elements allude to its leading sustainable powertrain. The design elements of the optional M Sport package emphasise the brand's characteristic dynamism. The new BMW 7 Series is also available with the M Sport Package Pro. The M 7 Series models to be introduced in the course of 2023 will make a particularly powerful impression in terms of both design and driving dynamics. An M Performance Pack will also be available as an option for these models.

Digital innovation
The cockpit of the new BMW 7 Series has considerably fewer buttons, switches and knobs than its predecessor. This is thanks to the BMW Curved Display and the associated digitalisation. The fully digital display combination consists of a 12.3-inch Info Display behind the steering wheel and a Touch Control Display with a screen diagonal of 14.9 inches above the centre console. The steering wheel and transmission lever are also newly designed. A first is the BMW Interaction Bar: a combination of design element and almost invisible control elements. This functional component on the dashboard is backlit and extends into the front doors.

Unique entertainment thanks to BMW Theatre Screen
The BMW Theatre Screen, which lowers down from the headliner, with built-in Amazon Fire TV, provides a unique experience for rear seat passengers. With its 31.3-inch touchscreen and 8K resolution, Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System with optional shakers in the seats and 5.5-inch touch panels in the rear doors (BMW Touch Command), the space in the back of the new BMW 7 Series is transformed into a mobile home cinema. This allows passengers to stream movies, play games, listen to music or search for information, among other things. Driver and front passenger can also use YouTube video on-demand streaming on the Touch Control Display for the first time. The 5G-enabled reception system in the new BMW 7 Series offers high-speed connectivity.

The passengers of the BMW i7 also enjoy another unmistakable sound experience: BMW IconicSounds Electric offers the right sound for every driving movement. For the first time, all soundscapes developed by the renowned film music composer Hans Zimmer in cooperation with the BMW Group are available.

New comfort seats as standard, refined Executive Lounge
The new BMW 7 Series features newly developed comfort seats as standard. These offer a larger seating area than in the predecessor, as well as extensive electrical adjustment options, seat heating and lumbar support for driver and front passenger. The optional multi-functional seats in the front and rear also include active seat ventilation with optimised cooling and a massage function with nine programmes (part of the Executive Pack). The optional Executive Lounge equipment provides unparalleled seating comfort. The seat on the right-hand side in the rear features a support for the lower legs that follows the seat and provides an even more comfortable resting position.

Innovative technology for automatic parking and manoeuvring
The new BMW 7 Series offers more systems for automatic driving and parking than ever before, both standard and optional. Its innovative technologies form the basis not only for the perfect functioning of all the systems available today, but also for the implementation of Level 3 automated driving functions in the near future. The combination of Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function and Steering & Lane Control Assistant already makes a high level of autonomous driving possible. Speed Limit Assist, Route Monitoring, Traffic Light Detection and Active Navigation make it possible to adapt steering movements and vehicle speed very precisely to the current driving situation.

The BMW iDrive control concept with BMW Operating System 8
The intuitive BMW iDrive control concept is standard equipment in the new BMW 7 Series. It provides the driver with various options for controlling vehicle, navigation, infotainment and communication functions, as well as for using digital services. The basis for this is the latest generation of software from the BMW Operating System 8. Interaction between driver and BMW via voice and touch is central to this. Together with the BMW Curved Display and the BMW Interaction Bar, the latest generation of the BMW Head-Up Display and the Augmented View function (shown for the first time in the Info Display behind the steering wheel) provide the desired information in the right place and optimal guidance in every driving situation.

The new My Modes provide the perfect interplay of vehicle functions, displays and interior ambience. These include Expressive Mode, Relax Mode or the optional Theatre Mode and Digital Art Mode (expected to be available from spring 2023). The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant has gained new skills and can assume up to 20 different appearances in the display in the new BMW 7 Series. The BMW Maps navigation system in the BMW i7 selects the route that offers the best charging potential as required.

The BMW Touch Command control screens in the rear doors allow the rear seat passengers to make phone calls via the vehicle's audio system. And the new BMW Digital Key Plus, which uses ultra-wideband (UWB) transmission technology, turns an Apple iPhone into a fully functional car key.

Efficient and powerful: different markets, different drivetrains
The new BMW 7 Series makes its European debut in the form of the all-electric BMW i7 xDrive60 (average energy consumption according to WLTP: 18.4 - 19.6 kWh/100 km, CO2 emissions: 0 g/km). The i7 xDrive60 is powered by two electric motors that produce a combined output of 400 kW (544 hp). Thanks to various innovations, the model offers a range of 590 - 625 km according to WLTP. In the USA, China and some other markets, two models with petrol engine and 48V mild hybrid technology will be available from the launch. The 6-cylinder in-line diesel with 220 kW (300 hp) in the BMW 740d xDrive (average fuel consumption according to WLTP: 5.9 - 6.9 l/100 km, CO2 emissions: 157 - 182 g/km) will be added to the European engine range in spring 2023.

The Plug-in Hybrid variants of the new BMW 7 Series are expected to come onto the market in early 2023. Like the BMW i7, they feature the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology, which enables an electric range of more than 80 kilometres (according to WLTP). Further variants of the fully electric BMW i7 will follow, including the future flagship BMW i7 M70 xDrive (average energy consumption according to WLTP: 21.2 - 26.4 kWh/100 km, CO2 emissions: 0 g/km). With the temporary Boost function, this engine produces 485 kW (660 hp) (values for BMW i7 M70 xDrive are provisional).
