THE NEW BMW X3 AND X4

More sporty, more modern and more digital

BMW has given the new BMW X3 and BMW X4 not only a refreshed look, but also a comprehensive equipment package. The rugged off-road looks and sporty appearance are emphasised by the redesigned front and rear bumper. All engines now feature mild hybrid technology thanks to a 48-volt starter generator, and both models come with the BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system as standard. The choice of models and versions has been made clearer by reducing the number of variants and emphasises sportiness and the X character. The world premiere of the BMW X3 and X4 will take place at the end of August. The BMW X3 is available from € 64,682, the BMW X4 from € 67,362.

The BMW X3

The exterior of the BMW X3 has been given a major overhaul, with additional emphasis on the classic X elements and design changes to the front and rear giving it an even more powerful look.
The extreme corners of the front bumper are marked by the triangular, vertical air intakes below the headlights. The kidney grille and headlights have been redesigned, the latter being 10 millimetres narrower and featuring LED lighting as standard, with optional adaptive LED or BMW Laser light available. The kidney grille has become larger, is now made of one piece and has been given a new and striking shape, especially at the top.
The rear of the BMW X3 is characterised by a clear appearance. The rear lights have a narrower design, horizontal indicators and a black surround that creates a sharper look. The horizontal lines and tight-fitting trim on the exhaust tips complete this clean design. The sporty character is further emphasised with the M Sport package; the air intakes and air curtains are significantly larger and finished in high-gloss black. Optionally, the window surrounds, the roof rack and the entire kidney grille are finished in high-gloss black. The BMW X3 is fitted as standard with 19-inch light alloy Y-spoke wheels in Midnight Grey bicolour, and there is also a choice of 20 and 21-inch wheels.

The BMW X4

Like the BMW X3, the BMW X4 also has a fresh new look. The front end shares the BMW X4 with the BMW X3, but distinguishes itself with a mesh design in the kidney grille with the M Sport package. Unlike the BMW X3, adaptive LED headlights come as standard and BMW Laser Light is available as an option. The individual design of the BMW X4 is reflected in the flat LED rear lights, the new tauter rear bumper with a larger painted surface and the reflectors that are now positioned vertically and lower in the bumper. The BMW X4, like the BMW X3 in the M Sport model, is fitted as standard with 19-inch Y-spoke light-alloy wheels; here too, 20 and 21-inch wheels are optional, as is the M Sport braking system.

Interior and equipment

The interior of both models is largely similar and has the same centre console as the BMW 4 Series. Standard equipment includes BMW Live Cockpit Plus with a 10.25-inch Touch Control Display, Sensatec sports seats and 3-zone automatic air conditioning. The centre console now accommodates the newly designed control island with transmission selector lever as well as buttons for the start-stop system, hill descent control, iDrive Touch Controller and electronic parking brake. Driving comfort and safety have also been further enhanced, with Driving Assistant Professional available for the first time on both models, which includes functions such as Active Cruise Control, Crossing-traffic Warning and a Steering & Lane Control Assistant. The Parking Assistant Plus now includes the Reversing Assistant, which enables the car to reverse a driven section in exactly the same way. The operating system in the BMW X3 and BMW X4 is Operating System 7, which makes interaction between the vehicle and driver even more precise. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can also be used. The navigation system includes BMW Maps, which is of the latest generation and quickly and dynamically calculates a route based on precise real-time traffic information.
