Dealerships Severs Breeman sold to Dusseldorp and Van Poelgeest

PRESS RELEASE

Severs Breeman Automotive has sold its BMW and MINI dealerships to Dusseldorp Automotive and Van Poelgeest. Dusseldorp is taking over the branches in Rotterdam-North and South and Van Poelgeest is buying the companies in Alphen aan den Rijn, Gouda and Woerden.

Severs Breeman Automotive was created as a merger between Breeman Automotive and Hans Severs. Both family businesses decided to join forces in the Green Heart and Rotterdam region in 2021. Because of current developments in the automotive industry, BMW Group's transition to the agent model and increasing consolidation to a few large dealer groups, the Severs and Breeman families decided to put the future of their dealerships in the hands of two large single brand dealer holding companies. "We recognize in Dusseldorp and Van Poelgeest the drive and passion for those wonderful brands BMW and MINI. Their culture and customer approach fit well with the way we have always managed our businesses," said the Severs Breeman management.

Dusseldorp Automotive started in 1959 as the Netherlands' first official BMW dealer in Apeldoorn. In the years that followed, Dusseldorp established itself in Deventer and through acquisitions, the company continued to grow with branches in Hoogeveen and Zwolle (2012), Alkmaar, Hoorn and Oostzaan (2016), The Hague (2019) Assen and Groningen (2022) and in 2023 Brielle, Schiedam and Wateringen. Dusseldorp now has a prominent market position in South Holland.

"We have known the Breeman and Severs families for a long time," says Richard Dusseldorp, Managing Director of Dusseldorp Automotive, "we are proud that our companies are coming together. The branches in Rotterdam fit perfectly with our already existing dealer network in the regions of The Hague and Schiedam."

Van Poelgeest, like Dusseldorp, is an exclusive BMW Group contract partner that has grown strongly over the last 20 years through acquisitions. Van Poelgeest's oldest branch is located in Amstelveen on the A9 and was recently completely renovated. The acquisition of the Heemstede and Noordwijk branches (2006) was followed by Amersfoort and Hilversum (2015), Naarden (2016) and Amsterdam (2020).

Managing Director Harry Baltus: "The character of the dealerships in Alphen aan den Rijn, Gouda and Woerden and the way of thinking and acting of the teams within these branches fit in perfectly with Van Poelgeest's vision of customer experience. We will soon be surprising customers in the beautiful Green Heart together, every day again."

Anne Brons, CEO of BMW Group Netherlands, supports the acquisition of the Severs Breeman companies by Dusseldorp and Van Poelgeest. "Our dealer network is changing rapidly and that is also necessary in this market. We look back on a great cooperation, both with Hans Severs and with Frits Breeman. They have made an important contribution to the market position that BMW Group currently has. We also respect the decision to sell the dealerships to two major partners. Our appreciation also for the way these parties came to an agreement with each other. With these network adjustments, we look to the future with confidence."

The acquisition is still subject to approval by the ACM (Authority Consumer and Market). The proposed transaction is expected to be completed by the end of February 2024.
