The BMW Concept Touring Coupe

BMW Group presents the world premiere of its BMW Concept Touring Coupe at the opening of the 2023 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Developed for one-off production, the closed two-seater continues the tradition of legendary BMW classics: a timeless symbol of freedom on four wheels and the pleasure of traveling together.

BMW has redesigned the traditional body shape of an elegant sports car. In the interior, meticulously crafted leather surfaces by Italian manufacturer Poltrona Frau create a luxurious ambience. The compartment behind the seats offers ample space to store luggage for spontaneous excursions; even the luggage itself was exclusively custom-made at Schedoni's leather workshop in Modena.

A tribute to the timeless fascination of the automobile
The world premiere of the BMW Concept Touring Coupe at the 2023 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este places the vehicle in a historical context. Surrounded by classic engines from automotive history, which have brought pleasure to their owners and spectators for decades, this unique car is presented in Cernobbio, Italy, as a tribute to its timeless fascination. "The BMW Concept Touring Coupe celebrates the original Sheer Driving Pleasure," said Domagoj Dukec, head of BMW Design. "This car shows that the passion for all things driving pleasure has been essential throughout the ages and will continue to be so in the future."

The handcrafted, unique BMW Concept Touring Coupe unites a traditional body concept with the technology of a modern purist sports car. Its proportions and name are reminiscent of the BMW 328 Touring Coupe that won the 1940 Mille Miglia endurance race. The functionality of the shooting-brake concept is a nod to the BMW 02 Series model variants of the early 1970s, which had "Touring" in their name to distinguish them from sedans. The styling of the characters at the rear and inside this unique car is inspired by the model lettering of this historic predecessor. The BMW Concept Touring Coupe is powered by the brand's signature six-cylinder inline engine, with performance characteristics and refinement that confirm its status as a symbol of pure, unadulterated driving pleasure.

Exterior design: striking proportions, exclusive details
The design highlight of the BMW Concept Touring Coupe is its sculpted rear end. The flowing contours of the roof, which merge seamlessly into the rear side panels, accentuate the car's athletic shoulders, while the flat rear window and clearly defined body surfaces emphasize the car's solid stance.

Viewed from the side, BMW's typical interpretation of shooting-brake proportions is clearly recognizable. The long hood, the streamlined roof contours and the powerful rear end form a characteristic two-box design, while the elongated side window with the Hofmeister kink and the flared wheel arches at the rear underline the sporty elegance.

The Sparkling Lario paint was created especially for the BMW Concept Touring Coupe. The gray-brown hues with blue glass flakes give a unique impression of depth. The effect is refined by silver-bronze accents and the specially designed BMW kidney grille with longitudinal bars. The exclusive 20″ front and 21″ rear alloy wheels are a logical continuation of these color accents in the 20-spoke radial design. The striking design and gold-colored surfaces underline the elegant sporty character of the car.

Interior design: craftsmanship at the highestlevel
The interior ambience of the BMW Concept Touring Coupe is defined by the driver's orientation in the cockpit that is customary for the brand, with maximum attention paid to choice of materials, color scheme and finish. The exclusive bi-color option by Italian leather atelier Poltrona Frau divides the interior horizontally into two different color segments: in the upper section, a dark brown shade promotes concentration while driving; in the lower section, a light brown color brings comfort and warmth to the interior.

The luggage, designed exclusively for the BMW Concept Touring Coupe by the renowned leather workshop Schedoni in Modena, also offers a customized set. This set consists of two large overnight bags and a small overnight bag, plus a garment bag, all perfectly matched to the car.
