The new BMW X1 and the BMW iX1

The entry-level model in the BMW X range is more attractive than ever. The new, third generation of the BMW X1 has a distinctive design, offers plenty of interior space and features advanced digital systems. For the first time, an all-electric version has been launched, namely the BMW iX1. This new electric model offers driving pleasure and modern functionality combined with emission-free mobility. Furthermore, the new display and operating concept with BMW Operating System 8, the BMW Curved Display and extensive automatic driver assistance and parking aid systems contribute to the progressive character of this Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). The new BMW iX1 can be driven for as little as € 849 per month!

With its robust exterior and versatile functionality, the new BMW X1 embodies a sense of freedom and independence, both in everyday use and on long journeys. The progressive interior, the refined ambience and the much more comprehensive standard equipment all underline the premium character of the new BMW X1.

Engine variants
From the introduction of the new BMW X1 in October 2022, there will be a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines. These will be paired as standard with a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch automatic transmission. Depending on the model, power is transmitted to the road via the front wheels or the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system. This is almost immediately followed by the all-electric BMW iX1 xDrive30, two Plug-in Hybrid models and two models with conventional motors with 48-volt Mild Hybrid technology. The in-line 4-cylinder BMW X1 xDrive23i delivers a system output of 160 kW (218 hp) - a maximum of 150 kW (204 hp) from the petrol engine and a maximum of 14 kW (19 hp) from the integrated electric motor.

The new BMW X1 will be produced at the BMW Group's plant in Regensburg, Germany, where for the first time models with combustion engines, plug-in hybrids and all-electric drive systems will roll off the same production line.

The BMW iX1

The BMW iX1 introduces locally emission-free driving to the premium compact segment, which is growing worldwide. The compact SAV with the latest BMW eDrive technology provides a huge boost for electromobility. The sustainability gains over its predecessor can be attributed in part to not only extensive electrification, but also the greater proportion of green energy used for production and in the supply chain. The increased amounts of recycled and natural materials used also contribute to the increased sustainability.

Design
The lines and stylish design details of the third model generation of the BMW X1 make its SAV character more apparent than ever. The vertical front end gives the new BMW X1 a much more powerful appearance; the narrow LED headlights, the large, almost square BMW kidney grille, the lines that cross each other and extend to the sides and the striking chrome strips in the lower air intakes are image-defining elements. The robust aura of the new BMW X1 is further enhanced by specific design elements of the Model xLine, including underbody protection.

All models are equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. 18-inch alloy wheels are part of the equipment for the Model xLine and Model M Sport; these models are also available with 19 and - for the first time for the BMW X1 - 20-inch wheels. Customers can choose between two solid and ten metallic body colours - and for the first time, the option of Frozen colours from BMW Individual.

Interior
The high seating position and premium ambience (inspired by the interior of the BMW iX) contribute to the distinctive driving experience in the new compact SAV from BMW. The essential elements in the new interior are the slim dashboard, the BMW Curved Display, the 'floating' armrest with the integrated control panel and the illuminated pad for the smartphone at the front of the centre console. The newly developed seats are available with either perforated Sensatec or Vernasca leather upholstery. Furthermore, BMW has further improved both the sound insulation in the car and the occupant protection. The integrated passive safety concept now also includes a new airbag between the front seats. In the rear, the new BMW X1 offers three full-size seats and thus significantly more seating comfort. The 540-litre boot can be increased to 1,600 litres.

Comprehensive standard equipment
The BMW Maps navigation system, leather-clad sports steering wheel, intelligent automatic air conditioning and rain sensor with automatic light activation are part of the standard equipment of the new BMW X1, as are four USB-C and two 12-volt sockets and many more driver assistance systems than in the previous generation's BMW X1. Updated equipment packages allow for even more targeted individualisation of the new BMW X1. The new BMW X1 also spoils its occupants with the latest generation of BMW iDrive and the BMW Live Cockpit Plus included as standard. It is based on BMW Operating System 8 and includes the BMW Curved Display with state-of-the-art graphics and menu structure, and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with new skills.
