The new BMW M5 Sedan and BMW M5 Touring

BMW M GmbH continues its 2024 product offensive and confirms the expansion of its model range with the BMW M5 Sedan and BMW M5 Touring. The prototypes are carefully camouflaged, but this cannot disguise the powerful character of these cars. The latest generation of the BMW M5 is currently undergoing intensive field testing before entering the final development phase before series production. The new high-performance sedan from BMW M GmbH is already completing test runs on public roads, on the BMW Group test grounds and on race tracks around the world.

MW M GmbH officially confirms that it will add a Touring variant to its model range with the new generation of the BMW M5. The perfect combination of performance typical of M, uncompromising comfort on long distances and impressive spaciousness will experience its return in 2024 with the new BMW M5 Touring.

Like the future BMW M5 Sedan, the Touring variant will also feature a completely newly developed partially electrified powertrain. The characteristic performance features of BMW M GmbH and the precisely tuned suspension, further refined with innovative systems, provide driving dynamics and agility at a level unique in the segment. Thus, BMW M GmbH is making steady progress toward further electrification. "We are now also installing hybrid powertrains with typical M performance in other high-performance cars," says Dirk Häcker, Head of Development at BMW M GmbH.

For nearly 40 years, the BMW M5 has been the benchmark for driving dynamics, agility and precision in the high-performance sedan segment. Evolutionary advances, development expertise from motorsport and groundbreaking innovations in the areas of drive train, suspension, aerodynamics and lightweight construction have defined the history of the BMW M5. Engines with six-, eight- and even ten-cylinders, M TwinPower Turbo technology and high-revving internal combustion engines, the integrated braking system with Carbon ceramic M compound brakes and M xDrive all-wheel drive are just a few of the technological milestones that enable this model to repeatedly deliver top performance, defined in a sedan that is additionally intended as an everyday car. The seventh generation of the BMW M5 responds to this - with fascinating innovations for an even more intense driving experience and impressive performance.

Testing of the first prototypes of the new BMW M5 Touring will begin over the next few days in city traffic, on country roads and highways around Munich and the BMW M GmbH headquarters in Garching. The integrated application of all driveline and suspension systems will then also be tested for the new BMW M5 Touring on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, among others, with the aim of finding the ideal balance between sporty performance on the track and superior ride comfort in everyday driving and over long distances.
